The Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB) met in executive session by video teleconference on Thursday, June 24, 2021. PIDB Chair Ezra Cohen led the virtual meeting, which was attended by members Paul Noel Chretien, Trey Gowdy, Michael Lawrence, Ben Powell, Alissa Starzak, and John Tierney. Topics discussed by the PIDB members in session included recommendations to the President regarding the declassification of records relating to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, and to the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection. PIDB members also discussed the planned review of records in response to a request submitted by Senator Christopher Murphy, outreach opportunities, and post-pandemic planning for future PIDB meetings.
