On November 30, 2021, President Joseph R. Biden appointed Laura A. DeBonis to a three-year term as a member of the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB). The PIDB members and staff welcome back Ms. DeBonis and look forward to working with her in continuing efforts to modernize the classification and declassification system to meet 21st Century national security needs, improve Government transparency, and operate effectively and efficiently with large volumes of digital data. Ms. DeBonis previously served as a member of the PIDB as an appointee of President Barack Obama from 2015-2018. During her tenure, the PIDB issued its report to the President on The Importance of Technology in Classification and Declassification and researched and drafted its report to the President, A Vision for the Digital Age: Modernization of the U.S. Classification and Declassification System.
