On December 20, 2021, the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB) met in executive session by video teleconference. PIDB Chair Ezra Cohen led the virtual meeting, which was attended by PIDB members Paul-Noel Chretien, Laura DeBonis, Trey Gowdy, Michael Lawrence, Ben Powell, Alissa Starzak, and John Tierney. The PIDB members met with representatives from civil society organizations to discuss their proposals for revising Executive Order 13526. The civil society representatives included: Steven Aftergood (Federation of American Scientists), Elizabeth Goitein (Brennan Center for Justice), Freddy Martinez (Open The Government), Kel McClanahan (National Security Counselors), and Katherine Oh (American Civil Liberties Union). Following this discussion, the PIDB members discussed upcoming projects and priorities for 2022.
