On November 16, 2022, the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB) met in executive session by video teleconference. PIDB Chair Ezra Cohen led the virtual meeting, which was attended by Benjamin Powell, Carter Burwell, Paul Noel Chretien, John Tierney, Michael Lawrence, Trey Gowdy, and Laura DeBonis. PIDB members heard a briefing on blockchain, cognitive technologies, and quantum information science and technology (QIST), presented by Sharmila Bhatia, from the PIDB staff. In addition to this briefing on emerging technologies, the PIDB members planned for a conference to be held early next year with the University of Texas Clements Center for National Security in Austin, Texas, and an event to be held jointly in December 2022 with the American Bar Association and the Federalist Society.
