The PIDB welcomes a new member, Val Demings. U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has appointed Ms. Demings to a three-year term on the PIDB. Ms. Demings served as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 10th Congressional District. She chaired the Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery and was a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Judiciary Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Committee on Oversight and Government Accountability. Previously, Ms. Demings had a 27-year career with the Orlando Police Department and was the first woman to serve as Chief of Police.
