On Thursday, February 18, 2021, the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB) held an executive session by video teleconference. PIDB Chair Ezra Cohen led the virtual meeting, which was attended by members John-Paul Chretien, Trey Gowdy, Michael Lawrence, Ben Powell, Alissa Starzak, and John Tierney. Their discussion focused on strategic planning for their activities in 2021. Their discussion included topical, policy, and process areas of interest for improving Federal classification and declassification; preparing a letter for the Biden administration; and responding to Congressional requests. The members discussed the effect of the pandemic on their activities. While they are hopeful to be able to meet in person, they will continue use of video teleconferencing for their meetings in accordance with National Archives pandemic policies and Federal guidelines. The February 18, 2021, executive session Agenda is now posted on the PIDB’s website. Please visit the PIDB Meetings – 2021 webpage.
