The virtual public meeting held on March 30, 2022, by the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB), remains available on the YouTube channel of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W4EFWTMx2w. The agenda for the meeting is available on the PIDB Meetings webpage: https://www.archives.gov/declassification/pidb/meetings/pidb2022.
At the meeting, PIDB members discussed recommendations for modernizing E.O. 13526; prioritizing the declassification of historically significant records related to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States; advocacy for public access to President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records postponed from declassification; and progress toward meeting the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act requirement to complete a feasibility study on declassifying information related to nuclear weapons testing and activities in the Marshall Islands.
For those who participated in the meeting yesterday – thank you. The PIDB will also post the responses to questions submitted by the public next week here on the PIDB’s blog Transforming Classification.
