PIDB Co-sponsors Conference on “America’s Secrets: Classified Information and Our Democracy,” January 26-27, at the LBJ Library in Austin, Texas – to Attend In Person, Register Now!

A conference on “America’s Secrets: Classified Information and Our Democracy,” to be held at the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library (LBJ Library), January 26-27, in Austin, Texas, is being co-sponsored by the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB), the LBJ Library, the Strauss Center, the Clements Center, the Intelligence Studies Project, and the Texas LBJ School of the University of Texas (UT), Austin. Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines will open the conference on January 26, 6:00-7:00 p.m., with a keynote address following the PIDB’s Public Meeting (4:00-5:30 p.m.), also at the LBJ Library. The conference will continue on Friday, January 27, with a series of panel discussions on the role of document declassification in transparency, oversight, education, and public trust in the national security institutions of the United States; the full-day conference on January 27 will feature a keynote address by Senator John Cornyn.
