The Public Interest Declassification Board held an in-person executive session on February 18, 2026, at the National Archives in Washington, DC. The meeting was attended by PIDB members Mark Angelson, Carter Burwell, Ezra Cohen, Laura DeBonis, Val Demings, John W. McCarthy, Carmen Medina, Ryan Montoya, and Alissa Starzak.
The meeting focused on three key areas:
- Review and Analysis: Members assessed the results and feedback from the January Congressional Session and evaluated public engagement and main conclusions from the January Public Meeting.
- Strategic Planning: Members engaged in a comprehensive strategic planning session and formalized the necessary next steps for the acquisition of the prioritized 9/11 records.
- Immediate Action: Members developed an action plan in order to most effectively respond to a specific, recent declassification request received from Congress.
